(Fest poster designed by Special Guest Rahel Suesskind)
In an age of online living and digital social currency, the importance of up close and personal connections is greater than ever. Whether you’re an independent comic artist looking for like-minded peers, a collector of unique comic books you won’t find anywhere else, or a fan of weird comic art looking to meet your favorite artists from Instagram, it’s more than worth it to visit Short Run on Nov. 1st. For 13 years, Short Run Comix Festival has been a confluence of professional artists and casual hobbyists who look forward to a community gathering not watered down by corporatization (please do not call us a “comic-con”!!) Come join the DIY takeover of the Seattle Design Center in Georgetown!
We’ll be hosting 220 small press comix and book artist-exhibitors from 22 states and 7 countries. Special festival guests include artist Rahel Suesskind (from Germany), who designed our hot poster, also, Nate McDonough, Katie Fricas, Anders Nilsen, Weng Pixin (from Singapore), Donya Todd (from the UK), and through an exciting creative exchange – Yudha Sandy and Danang Catur from Indonesia.
The Seattle Design Center has a beautiful atrium with high ceilings, skylights, and 20 ft tall fiddle-leaf plants. Street parking is free, along with their 90 car parking lot. We’ll welcome a food truck, and the Common Area Maintenance bookmobile out front. Swag bags for the first 50 people through the entrance. Admission is free as always.
Take Metro Bus #131/132 from the SODO light rail station and get off at 4th Ave. S/Mead St.
