Five paid apprenticeships are available, beginning in September and running through October (eight Saturday afternoon sessions, exact dates & times listed in the application). Students will learn about the history of the comics medium, practice drawing and writing through prompts and exercises, spend time on comics fundamentals, and then produce their own mini-comic. Students will have work time in the studio, but will also need to do some work at home. Students will display & sell their comics together at the festival taking place on Saturday, Nov. 7th, at Seattle Design Center in Georgetown. Adult supervision will be provided.
You will make a mini-comic ANALOG (drawing with pencil & pen on paper), 12 pages maximum, to be printed in B&W.
Open to youth ages 15-19 (15-17 will need parental permission). You will be paid $20 an/hr, for 16 hours of hands-on learning, at the conclusion of the program.
