Our 10th annual Trailer Blaze comics residency concluded on April 17th. What an incredible week with artists from all over the country, and one from Germany!
Residents included: Iona Fox, Julia Gootzeit, Tine Fetz, Verónica Velázquez-Avilés, Rae Whitlock, Glynnis Fawkes, Kat Sun; invited artists Christina Lee, Amelia Greenhall; and 2 local alumni mentors Jessica Hoffman and Kelly Froh.
We all got to know each other from the shared experiences of car-pooling, firepit sitting, home-cooking, walking along the beach, sweating in the sauna, and playing Pictionary in a rapid fire way! But we also had plenty of alone time to focus on our projects, especially mid-week during some exciting rainstorms. Seeing each other’s work and everyone’s little studio away-from-home remains such a bonding part of the residency, we leave filled up with inspiration from each other!
