Rae will receive $500 to complete, print, and premiere their comic, Goldfish, at Short Run on 11/2!
Goldfish takes place in a parallel world where aging has become optional via a widely available medical intervention known as negentropy — or colloquially as “treatment” — that prevents cellular breakdown. Best friends Lily and Lillie, both in their late 20s, navigate their futures and relationships amidst mounting pressure to begin treatment by age 28. A growing philosophical rift threatens the core of their friendship: Lillie excitedly ponders immortality while Lily begins to accept the inevitability of aging and death as its own adventure (an unpopular lifestyle choice that Lily’s family and friends have trouble accepting).
